BDSM is more than just a sexual activity. It is also something that is more then just a physical activity. The concept of BDSM is for the most part physical, but it does include a set of beliefs and morals as well. It holds something that is slightly different then the so-called "normal" society. BDSM in all of its forms does include a variety of beliefs, practices, and mind sets.
BDSM is a shortened way of saying: BD, D/s, and S&M. Each of those three are a set of acronyms as well. BD standing for bondage and disciple, D/s representing domination and submission, and S&M representing sadism and masochism. These three concepts are grouped together under the heading of BDSM as they generally have a common theme running between them. But this does not indicate that the three of them are inseparable. The BD or D/s enthusiast is not necessarily an S&M aficionado, and vice versa.
To understand the society of BDSM is something that takes a lifetime of commitment. Even I do not claim to fully understand it, I merely present the information on it as I have come to accept it. It also must be noted that BDSM, like any other belief system, is constantly changing, both as a whole and in individuals. Though there are certain basic principles that stay constant, the makeup of the three branches of BDSM may shift over time.
I, myself, have been both a dominant and a submissive in BDSM. I have experienced all three aspects of BDSM. And I try to keep myself abreast on the various beliefs and practices within BDSM. As such, I present this web page to you, as an information source on BDSM. I have included essays on the basic pillars of a BDSM relationship, which are trust, honor, communication, respect, and maturity. I have also provided resources, such as some checklists, information on some activities, and other general BDSM based information.
